Shoulda, coulda, woulda

Every morning, I remind myself to appreciate my first breath because we never know when it will be our last. This might seem morbid to some, but it helps me stay connected the fragility of life.

This philosophy, and being a mutli passionate person have challenged me with finding balance. That’s because I get excited with the little or big things. This has led me to struggle with saying “no” especially when I know someone needs help.

I can say that over the years, working with amazing educators, like you, I notice we have a tendency of biting off more than we can chew.

When this happens, it can leave us feeling defeated, exhausted, and stressed. As a result, others miss out on our presence, energy, and gifts.

As I age (and hopefully gain wisdom 😉) I realize more that my ‘shoulda, woulda, coulda’ moments don’t matter. That’s because what I choose to do today is what will help me tomorrow.

In our busy lives, taking moments to decompress, breathe, laugh, smile, and lower our shoulders matter. It looks different for each of us, and some days, finding just 30 seconds for that is a significant win. The key is consistently seeking these micro-moments to prioritize our well-being by putting on our oxygen mask first.

I wholeheartedly believe that our work positively impact’s children’s lives, both in big and small ways. But it first starts with us.

With all my love,

Alex
